It’s finally happening, but it’s actually happening

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I’m not 12, that’s jjohn pulling your leg! I’m 15.

Well done, a step towards maturity; you just simply stated 15.

You didn't say "15-and-a-half" or "almost 16" or "15 going on 16"...good on you. :)

A missed opportunity for me, of course...but I'll live...:)

edited to add: Oh My God! Did you really say that? I literally just typed out the above, hit "post"...and found that last bit...I am laughing so hard I am crying.......I need a vodka...and a towel...

Holy crap, I had no idea you were sick; I feel bad for perhaps riding you a little too hard to get that pond dug...I'll get over it, but I seriously do hope you are feeling better soon. Covid twice in one year? I have a friend in that same boat; it was never more than a minor inconvenience for him both times, more or less like a typical cold, and he only knew it was Covid because we were tested multiple times per shift when we were working up north. A fair number of us eventually tested positive at one point or another, but nobody got too sick, perhaps partially due to the mandatory vaccinations?

Twelve dwarves? This must be another case of Australia being the victim of an invasive species breeding to plague-like proportions...up here in Canuckistan, the story has only seven dwarves...

Is this post actually counselling a minor to consume alcoholic beverages? Or is that meant to refer to a cold milk? Isn't the Shadow something like twelve years old?

Just kidding...trying to get you riled up and your juices flowing...you know, to increase your metabolism and help you stave off infection...:)

Feel better soon!
sh*t my stupid brain was telling me twelve not seven!

15.5 great lol it doesn’t make my comment any better lmao 🤣
Anyways that pond will get dig up eventually just drink lots of milk

I'm not trying to sound racist, but you can try going to a home depot or lowes and seeing if there are any hispanics looking for work. They work fairly cheap, and they work their butts off. I've always been very impressed with the work performance of those guy's, particularly the first generation ones. They could have your pond done in a day or two.

Correct terms is day labors

I see all different people willing to work in such places

Yes, but you don’t find many Americans that can out work a typical first generation Hispanic. Those boys are beasts!

So some things of note for this build is that 1 it has a retaining wall about 18” tall which means I used rebar and cement to build a smooth wall/sides to the pond. I also cemented the ground of the pond on accident (accidentally dropped a bunch and then just went with it). The reason the retaining wall exists is we have two desert tortoises that roam around the yard and they would fall in without a retaining wall.
2 the water outputs. The main output is a waterfall with 3 big slabs of flagstone. The waterfall is pond linered under and then there are larger pieces of flagstone (including the 3 main ones used for the waterfall) cemented down. There are smaller rocks in every crack to hide either the pond liner or cement and also at the basin (pictures facing towards the pond below).IMG_1854.jpeg
The other output is this DIY manifold. I made a similar one for my 90g tank. It has 3 PVC arms with a bunch of drilled holes in it, and its purpose is an output that lets water out without making noise, unlike the waterfall. You can kind of see it in the picture below.IMG_1856.jpeg
I can pick and choose which outputs to use and how much I use them utilizing my favorite plumbing invention ever (below). It has a handle and I just turn the handle to choose which input I want/the ratio of the waterfall:manifold.IMG_1857.jpeg
As for plumbing, its nothing special, but it is very compact/professional in my opinion. The input for the plumbing comes from a drain on the far side of the pond and a skimmer thats closer (just like the output I can choose which one I want to use/which one i want to use more). The pump I have is a PentAir Superflo VST with variable speed, which means I can change the gph pumped. From there it goes to the filter, which is an Aqua Ultima 2, and then to the UV, which is by Aqua, same as the filter. IMG_1852.jpeg

One thing I realized soon after that I overlooked was an autofill system/valve, which is not needed, but the skimmer sits on the side of the pond so I will need to fill the pond up on occasion, but thats tbd on how often. I should probably figure out a good way to fill it easily tho.
