I’m wanting to run a stock tank from solar panels. I’m wondering if either a dcp or dcq pump could be run directly from solar panels automatically. I’d run a buck converter to either output 24v or 36v. Would these pumps come on automatically whenever the sun hits the panels??? Or once unplugged do they have to be turned on every time power is reset? I’m looking at the larger pumps to run a 1000 gal stock tank or 2.

I unfortunately can’t answer your question regarding the solar power but I do have 5 Jebao DCP pumps running currently. They do turn back on automatically at their programmed flow rate when the power comes back on. They’re super quiet, affordable, efficient, and last a very long time time.

Great news. I’d just have to figure out the plug size going into the controller and id be in business

Please report back when you have it worked out as it sounds interesting. What’s going in the stock tanks?
Fishies. Seems like it will be much easier to do 24v and go with a 15000. I really wanted to do the 20000. It’s a pain to find a higher amperage 36v buck converter

Howdy,

the one thing about the straight connection with solar panels is that they don't give off electricity when it's dark, obviously. The giant solar farms we see on the fields and even the solar panels on some homes are often hooked up to lithium batteries. Maybe something to think about. I always think of pumps as the heart of our fish tank. I wouldn't want it to stop over night...

Good luck

I’m aware. One step at a time. I was thinking of either a large water tank to fill during the day and just trickle a little water at night like through a 1/4” hose or a small pump to run at night off battery. Still working on it. I have the ground about leveled. Thinking of putting artificial turn down under the tanks. Lots of expenses. Atleast I already have (2) 1000 gal tanks. lol I need a patrion to keep this going. I have a few 1500 liter bilge pumps on the way.

I don't think it will work. The Jebao pumps have their own controllers, which provide DC, but this is modulated to the speed of the pump. Broadly, the controller is a tunable inverter. The inverter for the solar panels will not give the same current.

There are other many submersible pumps available for use with solar panels. Not specifically designed for aquariums, but should still do.

I don’t see why not. The power supply puts out 24v ( in the case of the dcp -15000. Then as u say the controller modulates the 24v. I’m inputting a stable 24v from a buck inverter, that’s same as a power supply. Only my 24v will probably start out with lower amperage until full sun hits. If it doesn’t throw a code before it develops enough amperage, shouldn’t be a problem.
