Have you tested your water?
Yes
If I did not test my water...
  1. ...I recognize that I will likely be asked to do a test, and that water tests are critical for solving freshwater health problems.
Do you do water changes?
Yes
If I do not change my water...

It looks more like severe starvation to me - has it been eating/attempting to eat at all?

Well, if it’s been eating but not gaining and looking that way, it could very well be mycobacteria (TB) and is showing all the signs. Hard to tell since you don’t know the history of the fish.

It was kind of you to buy it but personally, I think it’s a long shot if you can save it from either extreme starvation or if it’s actually TB, there’s almost no chance

I doubt that TB is the only issue here, if it is TB at all.
A healthy fish can fight TB by encapsulating the local bacteria colonies.
A fish with such badly sunken belly should look way worse if TB was the cause. Like open wounds, crooked spine etc.

I’ve read that once fish start to show symptoms of TB, they will only get worse. These fish, however are showing signs of getting better, they are eating better, there poop turned normal, and they have no lumps anywhere which tb can give. I’m starting to think it might be an internal parasite+starvation from the fish store that made them skinny and is making it hard for them to gain weight so I will medicate and see if they can gain weight, but they seem to be doing better, which is uncommon in fish with tb especially one this sick
