Baby bichir might of ate a "rock?" Weird behavior. Read please!

Opening and closing the mouth is the way polys force water through their gills (enabling absorption of dissolved oxygen), opening and closing their mouths is something they continuously do, this is then supplemented by air gulping. As for the food I just have a quick question, I'm not trying to...

Baby bichir might of ate a "rock?" Weird behavior. Read please!

Often times when polys eat something large they'll swing their heads back and forth to use their muscular bodies to force the object down, I'm not sure it that was what was happening, but it may be the case. Her floating tail may be a sign of gas which usually solves itself within a day or so...

    Treating and Feeding.

Could we get pics of the infected poly? As for not feeding, I wouldn't worry too much about it they can last without a meal for a long time. You said they had worms ON them right? No intestinal parasites? Any idea what kind of worm? What are you using to treat it? Edit: It's generally...

Sturgeon can live in tropical temperatures.

Sterlet is just a general term to refer to juvenile/young sturgeon, it's not actually the name of any species.

What to do When I go on vacation

Well it really depends how long you'll be gone for. But a good way to get them set is to do a real good wc and give them a decent amount of food before you leave. They won't starve very fast, if you're worried you can stock the tank with feeders they can catch while you're gone.

Hey guys, got a few questions about snails..

I've personally had quite a bit of success with japanese trapdoors, they reproduce twice per year and from all of my experience with them they're great cleaners and pretty hardy.

which pleco can be kept with bichirs

Hey darius, I have a gibby with my sen and they get along just fine. Never see the gibby sucking/rasping on the sen, that said always keep an eye on them, and keep them well fed.

    Rock ?

Drop some vinegar onto the rock, if it bubbles it'll likely dissolve in the aquarium, potentially releasing harmful minerals.

    Racoons

Seriously, a racoon would be a welcome guest, just the other week I had a juvenile black bear in my back yard. I have wolves that rome the area, coyotes, bobcats, lions, even the rare grizzly (THAT is an animal you don't **** with). It's getting really annoying, lately I've had 3 elk killed on...

    Polypterids and Punctuated Equilibrium

Do some reading on convergent evolution, it's an incredibly interesting subject. As I said before the example of the 2 and 3 toed sloths are perfect examples of this. Each evolved from separate lines, however, they've each evolved in similar directions over time.

    ID my new pickup

I've always thought small sens are adorable. It's not uncommon for a lot of juvies to have a slight line down their flanks.
