    Mantis shrimp

I have kept a few smashers, and my housemate has a spearer. Both seem very hardy, but a big smasher deffinitly needs acrylic.

    lionfish

I would agree with oddball. At the least, I would go a 60x24x24 while you organised someting bigger, as volitans do get huge! They also grow really fast. Alternatively, both radiata and antennata lions are stuning fish that get nowhere near the size of a volitans. BTW, you should check out the...

    Turning Saltwater Fish into Freshwater!

Not a good idea. Some saltwater fish will convert to brackish, and rarley, even to fresh, but this only works for esturine species, such as flat head, mangrove jack, estuary cod and some species of gar. Of all these, only the mangrove jack would survive full fresh water, but even then, would...

    Good 'Dither' Fish For Cichlids?

As everyone else said, silver dollars. The spotted variety is particularly nice. They can beslightly aggro, but banded leporinius are quite a nice fish too.

Bearded ghoul (type of scorpion fish)

Thought I'd post a picture of my bearded ghoul. He is one of the evilist looking fish ever. Also, saw that barracuda was interested in stone fish, and these guys are extremly similar. Mine eats both live, and prepared foods without hesitation.

    Huge mantis shrimp

Its a smasher. I'm hoping to get hold of some perspex to biuld a tank with, but untill then, its being kept in a plastic 75ltr tub, running an undergravel filter, two power heads and cured live rock.

    Mangrove Jack

Glad everyone likes him (and I know, my glass is filthy. I gotta get a magnet cleaner.) I do add some salt to the water, as it seems to keep him happy and better coloured. No tankmates at all, but he did once rip the head off a 20cm brasiliensis. You can keep things with them when the jack is...

    Mangrove Jack

Just thought I'd post some pics of my mangrove jack. He's around 35 - 40cm and seemingly always hungry.

    Huge mantis shrimp

I got a big mantis shrimp from my work the other day, over 20cm long, and awsome colours. Will have pics up soon.

    anglerfish

I havn't kept striated or sargassam angler. I did however keep a bright yellow wart skin angler. They truly are amazing fish to keep, but be wary, as I have seen anglers take prey larger than themselves. I could only ever convince my angler fish to take live food, but it was worth it! really...

    new to saltwater

Generally algae problems are a sign of either too much light, a large build up of nutrients (common when cycling a new tank) or excess phosphate. Red algae is usually a sign of high nitrate levels. If this is the case, I have found small, frequent water changes are the way to go.

    sexing dovii

Definitly looks like a female to me. By the time they are six inches or so long, male dovies start to develop spots, and turn a really nice blue around the edge of their body, often going to purple in the centre depending on the fishes mood. Males also begin to develop the hump. Females on the...

    Undulated triggerfish & tankmates

Undulates are one of the most aggressive ( but beautiful triggers) around. I wouldn't put them with other triggers, but some species of moray, such as fimbriated moray eels may be okay. I have also heard of them being kept with dogtooth puffers, coronation trout and coral cod. I certainly...

I've found 10grams/ litre works really well. Not sure what that is in imperial, but u should be able to look it up on google
