Back again with the steel framed 400g, started removing old silicone to reseal and found some odd design choices, potential issues?

So the grand saga of this tank continues. I worked up the nerve to start removing the silicone to fix this damn thing, but I've run into a few odd design choices that have me worried I might have bitten off more than I can chew, so I thought It'd be worth asking about. 1: The bottom of the tank...

    “New” 125 gallon

Got a deal on a 125 gallon tank from FB market place... $50 with stand. Mind you it’s an odd shape 125, 6’ w, 1.5’ deep, and 22” tall. The prior owner had limped this tank along with copious amounts of additional silicone so the clean up will be daunting. Are folks still using GE-1 black...

    Resealing a tank

hey guys, so I have to reseal a couple tanks. And I read many times that you have to let the silicone sit for 2 days before adding water. But, the silicone I bought, Aquascape clear silicone, says, “allow silicone to dry for 30 minutes before allowing contact with water”. I’m just interested, do...

    Is my caulk okay?

It’s been about a year since I resealed my 55 gal with GE waterproof caulk. I did let it sit two weeks before adding water. Temp might have fluctuated since I’m in Florida. It looks odd with the air bubbles...does this mean it is unsealing itself from the glass or is it just an amateur job...

    Resealed tank: silicone fully cured?

I've resealed an aquarium with GE clear silicone I about three weeks ago. The surface is fully cured and the acetic acid smell is long gone, but where the silicone is thickest (especially around the bottom panel), I can still see some cloudiness underneath the cured top layer. Has anyone ever...

    265 gallon re seal

Sooo I'm new to this site, but not to the hobby. I just recently purchased a 265 gallon glass aquarium with a plexiglass sump at a great deal. The tank looks solid. Half inch glass with a double pane on the bottom. The sump is another story. Before i actually put this tank in my house and fill...

    HELP RESEALING 180 GALLON. PICTURES!!!!!!!

I recently bought a 180 gallon tank from someone con CL. The tank was practically free, the person just wanted it out of their new trailer home, they even delivered it and assisted me placing it in my garage. The tank seems a bit old but still good. It has some minor scratches and some lime...

Best Silicone for resealing large tanks

So in a previous post I picked up a 250 gallon that turned out to be a 275 gallon for cheap since it just needed to be resealed from a small leak on one of the side seams. I have cleaned out the inside and am to the point of getting ready to strip the old silicone but am still not sure of what...
