I wouldnt think geckos would be part of this evolutionary ladder... they are far to new to have and keep some of the relic qualities that venemous lizards and gilas now have. I would think this study would need to focus on more ancient lizards. Iguanids, Varanids, Agamid species.

Yeah true, but you never know... But helodermas are absolutely ancient animals, so theyve had the most time to evolve something that advanced.

is that a serious question? ha ha ha ha geckos are too cute to be venemous ... all kiddin aside....I dont think geckos are built to pack that kind of componancy in terms of venom. There is just no part of their anatomy that would allow them to do so. But well be dead by the year you mentioned ha ha ha ha ha

Oh World Wildlife Foundation... I think conservation organizations prefer the cute over the ugly because its easier to get the public involved in a useless 'Save the Panda' (which I don't think will ever happen to be honest) than trying to save the Butaan or eliminate feral cane toads and brown tree snakes. Well, maybe the public would enjoy that. Most people enjoy killing snakes, I take that back.
dude elephants look like an anus ... they are flat out ugly and people love them to death.... only mammals im into are girls..... i like my dog too. But there is something about reptiles that I think no other animal can and will ever offer. Monitors more so than any other.
True true. I think elephants and a lot of 'cute' animals really arent anything special from others. I love all animals (except mosquitos, they can drop dead) with a passion, even if they are ugly. But people have different views of ugly. Some people will cringe at a baby leopard gecko, but some will squeal and cuddle it while little hearts float above their head....
I like some mammals more than others. Fennec foxes, hedgehogs, sugar gliders, are the only ones I would keep as a pet. Other than that, otters are pretty tight and servals remind me of a kimberly rock monitor oddly...
