Only thing I can suggest is to ramp up filtration if and where possible and do a nice big water change before you go. Light feedings is a good idea as well as most fish can go a long time with no feedings period. There have been times when I couldnt do my weekly changes and the fish were always fine but I tend to use heavy filtration, stock lightly and I've never let it go a month. That said, I do think you should be fine .

For one thing your filtration still has me in awe.

I can see where it may cause a little stress to the fish seeing it is out of schedual. But I think it would be ok.

IMO I would suggest that you do smaller WC's over the course of 2 or 3 days when you get back as opposed to one big one. That way the sudden change shouldn't stress them as much. Lots of people only do WC's monthly. I wouldn't recommend it though.

Yea it will be fine.

Do a 75-90% right before you go. And have your wife feed only every 4-5 days.

And when you get back do a few small water changes every few days. Before returning to the 50%ers

Last Feb I went away on holiday for three weeks and also had no one around who was capable of doing my WC's.

What I did was the night before I left I did a roughly 75% WC, cleaned out one of canister filters and that was it. Friends came in to feed my cats who at the same time fed my fish every 2 days.

When I got back three weeks later did my normal 50% WC. I was surprised to see when I got home that all fish were fine, water was fine... everything was good.

I have a 120g with 2 aqua pro2 external filters.

I'm sure you'll be good.

i would check my ph before water change when you get back, the main problem people have is the high nitrates cause the ph to drop this also can knock back bb then you do water changes ph jumps around causes stress to fish and less bb
