1 oscar and a 29 as a grow out?

Not what i was saying at all. He can grow a pair of RTCs in it if he wants to, what i was disputing was that albinos grow slower than regular tiger oscars , Ive had both and they grow at the same rate . My opinion on the whole thing would be to wait until he has the money to be a responsible fishkeeper . But hey to each his own Good luck CB

who is to say that he is not a responsible fish keeper and i was just giving my advice about what i did when i was a kid i do think that one oscar unless it is one of the freaks that grow like 16 inches would do just fine in a 55 lol yeah this is mfk but why put somebody on blast for keeping a 10 inch to 12" fish in a 55 there is a lot worse there are people that live in a 2 bedroom house with 10 people lol

One word of caution with the 300 Gallon rubbermaid plan - I've never used a rubbermaid as a permanent (or long-term) tank myself, but I know people who have tried, and they said that because they're not really made to hold water, they start getting bowed and misshapen pretty quickly and do not hold up long-term. Perhaps other people have had success with it, just giving a word of warning based on what I've heard.

water trout im talking about. not the rubber maids that u get at wallmart.

o and lost both my albino oscars due to my jewels so there gone! :( but have one tiger left im focused on and i may be moving next door to my aunt YAY and living on my own but with her helping me out and shizznits like that AND a one bedroom appertment with just me and my dog and my tanks YAY but we dont now if this is goin to happen yet she still has to talk to her landlord.

Dude you got me twisted . As I said he can raise RTCs in a 29 if he wants I dont care . Freaks that grow to 16" ?? they will all grow that size if you take care of them correctly . I never said anything about not keeping his fish in that tank I dispute that ALBINO OSCARS GROW SLOWER THAN REGULAR ONES . Dont be so damn quick to critisize thinking im talking smack cuz im not

for about 4/5 months should that work? cause i may be getting aplace of my own and wont bealbe to afford a 55 for about a few months and i dont wanat to get rid of my albino ( has red eyes ) yellowish orangeish oscar so can one be fine as a grow out?? and eventualy i may be getting a 300 gallon rubbermaid in another few months for a lil mini oscar pond. how many oscars can fit in a 300 gallon rubbermaid pond?? i saw one at tractor supply store for 210.00 CHEAP!!
how big is the oscar? he wont last more than like 4 months if hes an inch long. they grow reasonably fast you could probably fit like 4 to 6 oscars in a 300g

albyoscar i wasnt attacking you i was just stating a fact, that a 12 inch fish should never regardless of activity be kept in a 55 gal tank. i completely agree with you that albino's and tigers grow at the same speed. coloration makes no difference on speed of growth or max size. and a full grown 12" oscar in a 55 is a stunted growth oscar in a tank to small for it.

Only should have 6 in a 125 with massive filteration. just a pair of hob 30-60 aqua tech filters aint gonna cut it for 6 full grown oscars. not attacking you haynchinook just adding to what you said because anyone wanting to keep an oscar in a 29 gal tank will prolly need to have that clarified.

i have a rescued Oscar that is 3 years old and only 7 1/2 inches long counting his tail fin. he was kept in a 29 gallon tank for 3 years. ridiculous what some people are willing to put a fish through. would you like to live in your closet? how about a prison cell thats a little bit larger. didnt think so. why would you do that to a fish for your personal enjoyment? let the fish live a long and healthy life with someone who has adequate tank space for it.

perfect_prefect I *believe* that albyoscar was referring to the comments by bengalsfan, who was the one who said a 12" oscar in a 55 was ok (not albyoscar). Just don't want it to turn into one of those things with everyone misunderstanding each other and not knowing who they are replying to...;)
