ive always been religious about 18,000k powerglo bulbs but i never liked how it washed out the green colors of my orinos. i finally swapped it out for an old 10,000k bulb i had laying around and WOW, what a difference! def brings out the green colors more :D

yeah i tried the actinic since i had one too but i didnt like the look. for some reason i never like super blue bulbs on FW tanks

and btw, i measured the big guy when i swapped him over...pushing 10" :)

you want color?! get some t5s or another fixture of your choice with individual reflectors. run a 50/50, 10k and 2 6500ks.. your cichla will basically be under natural sun light and you get a wider spectrum of colors.

almost forgot what i originally want to say.. beautiful orinos.

thx bro. i have a 4ft T5HO fixture, but i only run one bulb cause i like slightly dimmer lighting. ill try to mix it up with a different bulb see how it looks.

and your right about the natural sunlight. when i was moving these guys over, i held them out of the water in the sun and OMG they looked friggin amazing!!!!!!!!! i started to wonder why they didnt look like that in the tank...must be the bulbs :)
