10,000k light...what a difference on the GREENS!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
cool, theres a local hydrponics shop that has 6500k 4ft bulbs for $12.99, cant go wrong ;)

10k and a 6500k may be a little yellow but it's a freshwater aquarium not marine so personally it doesn't both me... i feel you don't notice the yellow so much since your not keeping live rock and sand which is basically white. it will deff bring out the colors in your fish.. i run nothing but 4 bulb setups on my display tanks so i can mix the bulbs up... i used to have an amazing t5 tek kit until my largest kelberi blew it up on me :( what a sad day

no, dont run a UV light. im assuming the bulbs is 54w, a standard 48" T5HO bulb

Can I run a T5HO PowerGlo bulb in my regular T5 housing? or do i need a special T5HO housing to run T5HO blubs?

yes, but you wont get the HO which stands for high output...how many watts is your fixture rated for?

I'm almost positive GE makes some 8000K bulbs, but they are pricey. I know my big tank will definetly have metal halides hung above it. The way the light shimmers with those things is unreal. I've yet to really see a cichla tank with them and I'm sure it will be illy.

yes yes but pricey to run.. and actually t5s have more lumenis* them mh with less watt output.. it's actually almost double if i'm not mistaking. btw i think scott (dieselmac) ran metal halides on his big tank.

more lighting, especially t5s cause algae grow with high nitrates. a uv helps the problem :)
