Wow those test results are kind of surprising. I knew a guy that collected limestone (i think) and lava rock to maintain a high ph but ive never had a hard time with canal fish not adapting. What you might see with the midas though is they get a bit of fin rot for a week or so. Ive always jut used salt and heat an they do fine. Ive also seen them adapt to pellets pretty easy.
Both Miami Devils are In their new tank. They seem to like each other a lot. They won't leave each other alone. Lol
