soft shell turtle with fancy guppies and mollies and one pleco

...really? you do know that i'm asking about a 10 gallon tank right?
As much as I know about turtles and it isn't much but correct me if i'm wrong would the turtle not eat the guppies destroy the mollies and then continue and out grow the tank.
Also the plec depending on variety would outgrow the tank as well assuming you meant just a common one..:nilly:

Siamese algae eaters eat hair algae.

you should bleach dip you plants before you put them in the tank.

but there are methods to deal with algae, like overdosing flourish excel and or spot dosing hydrogen peroxide(H2O2 breaks down to H2O and oxygen almost instantly, but people like excel since it boost plant growth). of course you do have to know what your doing with both of those, but its not that hard. really the flourish excel tip is very helpful for any algae in general.

the flourite is definitely helpful, but im going to try it with plain sand and root tabs now. my tanks not very advanced in its progress, i dont have any of the carpeting plants in there yet, but the two sword varieties i have are doing well with the root tabs.

the white sand i used is from home depot for 5 dollars, called pavestone high desert playsand. i like it but you need to rinse it really well multiple times.

edit: btw the bleach dip is diluted, its not strait bleach lol

BTW, siamese algae eaters will quickly outgrow their tank and need to be in shoals of 3+

Pea puffers ! ...I know this is always my response but you guys keep making these damn threads

personally, I would do a n. multifasciatus tank. or a n. brichardi species only tank with a DIY 3d styrafoam background and some cool rock structures. Low maintenance is my new obsession. =)

For the less experienced hobbyist: these are awesome little cichlids known as Shell Dwellers! They're very cool. They literally hide in little sea shells (make sure you get some).

Shell Dwellers or Pea Puffers are good choices.
Lots of personality and look cool.

if you want to try something different I recently got into Geosarma sp. land crabs, commonly called vampire crabs, the majority of the information I could find on them in English was in this thread- http://www.crustaforum.com/board/showthread.php?p=4967

I took what they said there and ran with it, mine all seem to be doing fine after 2 weeks in a simple slope paladurium

I use black flourite in my 80 Gal and have had a lot of success. I'd watch out for the siamese algae eaters because they grow pretty big and become aggressive. I gave mine away. I'd use octocinclus (spelling is prolly off) They do a good job especially in a planted tank because they are so small they can clean off the individual plant leaves. I'd also look into dwarf puffers or a small tetra tank

hope this helps
