10 gallon african?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
10gal is pretty much to small for anything but tang shell dwellers. If you got anything such as a malawi then 10gal would be suggested as a holding tank and prob not for to long either as they grow decently fast. Just my 2 cents - get tang shell dwellers or find something else non-african to pop-in there.

Yup, shell dwellers are the way to go. I have a few. I never thought I would find myself keeping a fish that small, but they are addictive. My favorite fish in the house is my little female ocellatus. She has ten times more attitude than my biggest male TX cichlid (10 in).

Probably a dumb question but where do you get the ones that tear rats up? How much do they usual cost?
uhm yah, dont think you really gonna find a common african at your petstore that is going to rip up a rat..

I have lots of african fry at home Red zebras and yellow labs in a ten gallon tank till they get big enough to survive in a bigger tank but I wouldn't want to raise them in that small of a tank. I add salt to my african tanks during every water change.
