How about cutting a 3" wide piece of acrylic and welding it on top of the window on the inside in an L or 90* angle style and extending that piece (or two pieces most likely) 6" or so beyond the actual acrylic window, so they brace against the 2x4s. Kinda like a brace but without a 2x4 running at the top
