Looks like a stressed male. I agree with Ken.
And FYI any two fish with matching chromosomes can mate, like a jaguar and a synspilium for example.

right i understand that, but some cichlids cannot hybridize regardless. such as oscars, uaru, cichla, crenicichla etc. etc....
