100 G stocked with 5 7inch O's

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I can't imagine that many o's in one tank....my oscar has grown so fast so quickly that he is already making the 75 gallon look small. I couldn't imagine anymore oscars in that much less than a 50+ gallon tank.

well since everyone else let it out i shall as well you shouldnt put ANYTHING else with the pair plecos will eat the eggs and the os will most likely kill everything else
and to the guy who said he fren had all the Os in a 55 we should find him and stuff him in a small box and see how he likes living all cramped up thats horrible and just wrong

I am plannning to stock a 100 G with 5 Os. i am also planning to have potential tankmates such as common plecos and loaches. too bad, here in our place, the LFS only sells 3" clowns.

i it possible for me to stock my 100 G with this? i mean practically?

2 of the Os is my pair and they already laid eggs twice..

i just need some intelligent suggetions and ideas.

Each Oscar would only have 20 gallons...definitely not practical. An intelligent idea would be to ignore the advice given by twroblew..(below).

I have 2 O's in my 55 gal and they are doing just fine I also have an african butterfly, a rope eel and a pleco. The O's are about 6" each and the butterfly is 2" and the plecoo is just over 6", and the eel is about 8" i am amazed as to why they did not eat the butterfly they have eated everything else such as a green spotted puffer a dragon fish another smaller oscar three plecos and soo many feeders i cannot even count can anyone tell me why they would leave the butterfly.
P.S. I have known hundreds of people who have kept oscars in 55's and smaller and seen them grow to full size 16" or more. My friend has 6 10"ers in his 55 and they have been there breeding for years. I think it depends on who keeps them.

:screwy: Wow that's great advice...NOT!! :screwy:

If your friend has had 6 Oscars for years, they should be much larger than 10". Those poor fish's growth has been stunted by keeping them in too small of a tank. I bet they're all pitted up with HITH too. Overstocking is one thing but that's ridiculous. When the O's start breeding, I can envision the other 4 cowering in the top corner of tank. That sounds like a great life they have. Sorry I'm not usually negative but I truly feel your dishing out poor advice. We don't want new hobbyists reading advice like that and thinking they can keep 6 Oscars in a 55...heck even 1 in a 55 is pushing it.
