$1000 For a 12'' Piraya?

I have an import license and a few excellent sources. I've not really used it yet bit it's there. I was curious and inquired the exact cost of a Piraya of that size.

Total cost including shipping would be just under $400. When I bought mine, I knew nobody with any exceptional deals and paid $100 each for my personal fish.

400 including shipping for a 12'' piraya?

Sounds about right. And then you have to factor the DOA's... as at this size it is much higher than when importing 3-4" fishes.

I was just looking through the classifieds and saw a guy offering a 12'' Piraya for $1000. I can buy multiples of the same fish delivered for around $200.

I understand pet shop prices are inflated as it is but I can't see anyone paying a grand for that particular fish.

So, if you had unlimited funds, would you pay that much for a Piraya?

I know where 6 12"+ flawless canary yellow pirayas are for $500 a piece.

12 inches for certain sp. is reasonable to some serious collectors.

riverdale pets in MD, and no he wouldn't let me take pics. They're all housed individually. There's not a fin nip on a single one, and they're as yellow as big bird.
