1000 gallon indoor pond!!FILTERATAION?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
a ghetto 1200 gph barracuda utility pump i got for like $40 and a rio 1700. but im planning to replace them both with a reeflo snapper or possibly a dart.

At that size a Nexus 300 pond filter would be worth considering

you are all correct for what your doing and yes the sound of a sand pool style filter is loud thats why mine is in the garage also euroreef skimming ...looked at my post "Perfect" and yes I did seem a liitle adverserial sorry :(

my 310 reef on filtration

its all good man i was just a little up tight yesterday. if you look at other posts on the forum the op is trying to do a filter without breaking the bank. he's trying to sell his fish off to fund his ray's so i doubt he would be wanting to cough up stacks for a filter. but then again thats why im so big on diy. im setting up a salt tank myself, my entire filtration will be from live rock in a seperate tank with alot of current. depending on water params i may have to put on a protein skimmer but im hoping to not have to. salt water filtration can be alot differant than freshwater.

edit: nice lookin tank, i like the stand and canopy, looks intricate.

jjb: amazing marine tank. I can only go as large as 20g, and I am extremely envious.

As for my earlier post, I neglected to look at the stocklist, and was thinking about the stupid 500g tank I just set up at the LFS i work at... I think "pond", indoor or outdoor, and I think "pond fish", which is what my ghetto-death filter would work for (goldies, koi, sunfish).

I apologize for making a suggestion without having read the prospective stocklist. That being said, you can still make a bangin' canister filter out of a garbage can and a sufficiently large magnum pump.

thanks guys for all the kind words ...yea DYI is the way to do as I even built my stand to save money...here is a pic before the reef went in and not to derail the thread but here is the relocated filtration system utilizing only 1 single energy saving pump and good for 7000 gallon set up ...no noise , no flooding, no fans etc... has inline vacume the works ...auto fill and water changes as well totally automated...
