100g upstairs?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
You will be fine.

I'm putting up a 120 this week on a third floor and have been wondering about how it will hold. It should be fine just figure out how many pounds are on each square foot.

water = 8.33 Lbs per gallon
100 gallons of water = 833 Lbs
Substrate, Rocks, Decorations, & Fish Maybe 50 Lbs
883 Lbs total

you should be good Its not like your putting a pool in, but if the floor feels weak under your feet I would thing about bracing your floor or putting it down stairs.

and as always make sure your tank is level filling a unlevel tank can cause it to break/crack (Especially when its glass)

How old/new is your house?
Was the 2nd story part of the original construction or an addition?
Is the House of stick construction, brick, block, etc?

You have to take all this into consideration, when you are placing a half ton of weight above ground...

It will probably be OK, but if any of the above components are compromised you need to look into it more closely...
IMO

unless your house is made outta toothpicks and bubblegum, your good.

the corners are made of popsicle sticks, so I should be fine, right?

lol i got toothpicks for floor joists so i dunno man...the 2nd story was original part of house and im not positive what type of construction the house is but its going in a spot in my room where walls are supporting from downstairs. (its hard to describe)
