That's a tough decision I guess I'd have to go with which one fit the best in my house. For me having 8ft long tanks for years a 10ft long 3ft wide would be nice. But a 4ft wide tank would also be nice but that actually is more protrusive sticking out 4ft from the wall. You can't go 10'x4'x34"?
Haha. Fantastic idea. It's going in the unfinished side of my basement so width isn't the biggest deal as far as it sticking out from the wall. I have an 8'x30"x27" upstairs because it fits in a nook and that's all my wife would allow. The challenge here is pricing. The 1" sheets come in 119"x72" so I'd be using 2 sheets cut in half for the top/bottom-front/back. I guess minus the width of the cut/sanding you could do something like 40' wide and 32" tall (inside dimensions). That'd yield 119"x42"34" outside I think. That might be the best bet yet!
