just started my 900 gallon plywood build. mocked after gators design with a few of my own tricks....10'x4'x3' inner dimesions. the window im using is from vldesigns 1500 that was dismantled. im also puting in a 3x3 window on the side. its just my dad and i working on it and had only two days working on it so far but got the shell built. everything is 12'' on center. 2x6 stand, 2x8 floor and 2x4 walls. the plywood is 10x4, 3/4 inch good on one side. 640 3'' screws and about 200 2'' screws. it will be against one wall and drywalled around to be an in wall tank.

the plans started smaller but got quickly out of hand.... last year i started to add on the house w/ a new livingroom. 18x26. the last 6-8 feet being my fish room.... concrete slab floor.
hopfully fiberglassing this weekend, got the 5 gallon epoxy system from us composites, and cloth fiberglass. then sweetwater on top. i know, i know its redundent and unneeded but if it helps w/ the family sleeping at nite its worth it....
stocking will be natives. so far 3 gar, 2 bullhead, 1 channel cat and 4 bluegill. gotta get it built before i add more.

Looks great, gonna be a really nice build! One thing for safety and it's honestly probably not even needed but I went back on mine and added a support row down the middle of the stand as well to be ABSOLUTELY sure it would not have any bowing whatsoever and cause microcracks in the epoxy. For me it was like you said, helped me sleep just a tiny tiny bit easier at night :)

That was the original plan, my dad talked me out of. The span on the 2x8 floor joists is only 46 inches at 12 inches on center. When I fill I'm gonna take all kinds of measurements to see he amount of flex.

What size are the viewing windows and are they glass or acrylic? I'm planning on a DIY tank with 3' viewing glass windows 3/4" thick with a 4" overlap on the bottom and 2" on the sides and top. 42" tall total.

3/4 inch thick glass. The small window has a rough opening of 31x31 inches regular glass. the front is 9 feet x 31 inches with low iron glass.
I got the screw holes filled with fairing compound tonite ( basically resin and a filler combined to make it thick like peanut butter) . I'll try to get pics posted soon. Fiberglass tomarrow. I'm gonna be a busy bee tomarrow.
