1100g pond coming this week

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
im extremely slow, but my fish have all officially been moved from the 250g to the 1100g:headbang2

i now can say i have 2 of the happiest pacu mfk has ever seen

my pacu are bigger than i thought. in a 21" laundry bag i used to move them, they touched the ends of the bag. these guys were heavy too, i would say easily 15-20lbs

don't pacus bite everything, they were chewing on the wiring of my pump, am wondering if you have a problem with them biting the liner.

no problems thus far with my pacus granting that I have a liner on top and a tarp below it. only thing they've been biting are the plants (which they seem to enjoy as healthy snacks lol) and well biting at me when I have to move them. (they were in an intex pool for the past week while I fixed an issue with the skimmer)

no pics because i havent quite figured out how to scrub the walls and floor of the pond in a timely manner. so the build-up is making the water look brown. once i finally get a good cleaning on the pond, new pics will come.

I dont understand something you said a few posts up. The pacu were in an Intex pool while you fixed an issue with the skimmer. I thought that the Intex Pool was the official pond. Or was it just a back up to what you were building?

Nevermind. I should pay closer attention. It wasnt you posting that said that. Sorry.

im using just two 250w aquarium heaters with a powerhead right under them to move heated water to the other side easier.. the pond is sheathed in OSB, and heavy fiberglass insulation, which is why only 500w of heaters can maintain 1100g at 80*. it even heated it initially from 72 or 74 to 80 within 2 days i believe.

and this is also without a good top to keep the heat in. im using nothing but a heavy duty tarp for right now, and its working like a charm.

its amazing how much less heater wattage you need when its insulated. the glass and plexi tanks we usually use let out an insane ammount of heat its starting to seem.
