1100g pond coming this week

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
the pool is actually working very well. i very rarely have the pacu hitting the sides anymore, unless chasing down pellets. so im guessing their quite happy now, i know i sure as hell would be. its also keeping at 78-80* with ONLY TWO 250w heaters. should stay at a solid 80* once i can figure out how to make an insulated top as well, thats still going to allow a decent ammount of air exchance with the outside.

now, the water i can never, ever seem to get clear. i change a few hundred gallons, and keep a UV running 24/7. the water is clean and clear, just has that brown tint to it. my best guess is either build up on the walls of scum or from the insane ammount of food ive been feeding these guys. lately been giving them 1/2 of a bag of medium kens pellets each feeding time, which is around 1/4lb.

This looks really good. I love the way you framed it out in wood. We thought of this before we built our pond because we have cats, but I was worried they'd still find a way to sharpen their claws on the liner LOL. Thanks for updating with pics -- everyone looks really happy!

the cat thing was a concern for me as well. we have an indoor/outdoor thats down there all winter long clawing at everything. so once way or another, i had to protect the pool and my fish from becoming sushi.

thats why i also havent stained or painted the wood yet, incase the dumb cat starts eating the wood shards he claws off, or just straight chewing on it as ive seen my other cats do to things in the past.

i wanted to add.....since moving to the pond, ive noticed my oscar or my black belt has got alot nastier than ever before. since being in there, ive lost 2 big jacks, and a convict. no traces of the fish left either, completely eaten.

all these guys have been together for several years now, and the only new addition in well over a year has been the black belt, so im starting to lean more to him a bit. yet he never showed any signs of aggression in the 250 what so ever.

i would think the fish should be nastier in the smaller tank, as opposed to the pond thats more than 4x bigger.

Awesome!
I go to sleep dreaming about my pond.
Just thinking about it gets me stupidly dance-on-my-tiptoes excited.
But pictures of other people doing gives me the opportunity to better visualize mine, so I go over the moon.

Good luck!
