12 Foot Monster Acrylic Setup

It was pretty easy to install. On the bottom I used some 1" sections of 1/2" acrylic square rod every couple feet to keep it put. I welded the rod down about 3/4" from the back wall of the tank. It made kind of a slot for the background to slide in. I only used about a drop of Weld On 4 in case I ever wanted to remove them. I figured you'd never see them because here covered by sand anyway. Here it is before it was secured.
 
I like the background.This tank is going to be a real beauty.
 
Here's a close up of the quality effort Bud put in to the overflow box. Also shows some trimming of the background. It would have been tough to use a razor blade to cut it so for the most part I used tin snips.
 
Here's the rock wall with overflow box in place. The toughest part of the install was to get the wall cut out so the box fit well.
 
I did use a little GE Silicone 1 around the middle and overflow box on the background so I let it sit for about a week and did another test fill to make sure the background didn't move.
 
I also kept about 1/8" gap between the top of the overflow box and the eurobrace. I can't remember the exact figures but Bud told me if the weir was completely blocked that 1/8" all the way around the box would move a crazy amount of water in an emergency. I think as it sets it's good for well over 4000 gph full time.
