12 Volt Man's Aqueon 150 Gallon Startup Thread

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
couple of updated shots this afternoon

looks like I am going to have to take my clowns back to the LFS. even though they eat well, they have developed a 'taste' for my silver dollars. over the past little while I have been trying to figure out why my redhooks have ragged fins, patches of scales missing etc.

today, as I watched the loaches swim up and take a nibble on the side of my redhook, I figured out why...

They are catching up to the hooks very quick! How wide is this tank? Are you upgrading them later on?

no, this is as large of a tank as I could fit in this basement room. the dimensions are 72x18x29 tall. Standard Aqueon 150 gallon. I wanted to get the 210 gallon (6 inches wider) but the front edge of this tank already sits about 26" out from the wall (left space behind for the AC110) and the adjacent wall is small. to go wider leaves little room in front of the tank to sit, and your back would be right up against the fireplace LOL

Didnt you pickup a Gold Severum?

yes, he passed away. he got a bacterial infection.

the severums at the LFS where I used to work would do the same thing all the time. you bring the fish in, they are fine, then a few days later they clamp up, their head starts getting huge holes (like hemaxmita (hole in the head) but it happens in just a few days) and they are gone. it happens so fast you can't combat it.

mine did the same thing...

sorry to hear but your other fish look great.
