does anyone see any problems with a 120 gallon for now? maybe upgrade to a 180 in the summer...dont know yet though...im liking the 120 for now if it will work

thats never a good idea IMO. you have plans for bigger fish and upgrade plans dont work out that often, go bigger now.

definitely a no no for stingrays in a 120G, fahakas are better off alone.

in reality most ppl say they will dont period, im well aware of this. I however WILL upgrade. right now I dont see the point spending so much on a tank with nothing only to have to buy it all myself, if I can go ahead and do the 120 until they each get to a bit over a foot long at least, a couple months, summers not that far away...then pick up a 180 even if its tank only for a decent price, ive already got all my equipment, and my fish are ready to go

this is similar to my idea. i found a 155 gallon but couldnt get it etc etc so im looking for a 180 now .. thinking .. florida / silver aro / 3x bichirs / 1x or 2x pbass ... worst come to worse ill go with 2x gars instead of the silver.

k so the 180 is a no go, guy just wants to much for to little...120 it is, just gota get the right size tank, i have a few potential canidates just want to check em out....
I saw some cool fish my lfs hasn't had in before today, i went to check up on my gar...they had a true leaf fish and spiney eels
i like both but the leaf will be eaten...what about the eel? looked like a peacock but honestly was only like 3'' long it looked

I want the 180 so bad, guy wants $500 for it tank/stand/canopy
The 120 is $300 and comes with everything, granted its lower end equipment IMO...hang on back heater and filter....I plan on running a sump so im not to concerned with the equipment he gives me...

u should get the 180...

in a 120, you run a pretty high risk of the gar breaking its back, you'll want the 180+ for it. why not just get the 180? if you plan on getting it in a few months your wasting your money on the 120. you could use the $300 you saved on not buying the 120 to get filters etc... for the 180.
