  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
well got some more done on the tank today i am on coat number two of epoxy and i decided to stain the out side. it looks good.

got a question for you all do i need a center brace on my tank? i will be putting a 2 inch wide by 3/4 inch thick plywood frame/ledge all the way around the inside edge of the tank after the acrylic is in.

also what do you think of the tile for the background? i was thinking either doing that or a 3d foam/concrete background

well i got my final coat of epoxy on today. i also started attaching my corner molding to cover up the screws. also i just got tracking info on my acrylic it might be here Saturday. my bulk heads, pump and heater will be here Friday. so if all goes well i may have water in it next week some time. once i get to that point i will be starting my background which will be a diy style foam and concrete rock and tree root structure.

got a bunch more done during the week i received my pump and bulkheads on Friday so i got my tank plumbing done and my sump constructed i decided to put some of the egg crate material on the bottom of the tank to protect the bottom from rocks and stuff. i will be getting the acrylic tomorrow so i plan on getting the front installed then the sides the next couple days my plan is to have water in it on Saturday. i started working on the skin for the base and the cabinet doors got one done but i need more wood to get the second one done. here are some picks of the progress what do you think?

my sump will have that drawer setup in it and the drawer with all the holes is going to be the mechanical filtration and the drip tray the egg crate cage will house as many bio balls as i can fit in it i ordered 5 gallons of them but i hope to get 3 gallons in the cage the rest will go in the sump. my 400 watt heater will also go in the sump.

got a quick question will the water fall sound get muffled once i get the bio balls in there?

i hooked it up to my garden hose and the thing sounds like i am taking a shower with the tub full of water.

Looking good! Always nice to see some one taking good care of there turtle. Not sure what all you have planned for decorations, but it would be good to have something near the suraface for the turtle to rest on to get air other then just the ramp to the ATBA.

Is there a reason why you didn't go 6' long? The width will be nice, my tank is 18" wide and with a turtle who is only at 8" wide i've decided the next tank definatly needs to be wider.

Also make sure you have lots of mech. very messy things turtle are

subscribed. Hope to see how this turns out!

your turtles going to be happy are you going to use live plants as well? that would look really nice having some plans on the top and in the water
