120g Big enough for Redtail Catfish?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
You could always get a pictus. Good looking, pretty active, and max out around 8"

I have a Pictus in my 55g I've had for 6 years. Love him, but I'm trying to change it up and get a few new fish for the 120g.. You know, do some research and make it unique to what I've owned before.

For a RTC you're going to need a pond/big big tank. These guys get huge. Even as a grow-out tank a 120 will be useless within a few months. I would say 700 to a thousand + gallons for them to be comfortable and healthy. I made the mistake of trying to use my 220 as a growout for a RTC hybrid, I ran out of room within 4 months.

Jurassic Aquatics, an MFK vendor, has some Irwini.

another vote for an irwini..I had one and loved it. I know you moved on from the rtc but did you check out that sticky on top of the page? It is a good read for anyone interested in owning a rtc..
