I can get a Marineland 125 Bowfront for under very cheap. It is supposedly the same footprint as my current 72 bow, but much taller. The seller is not sure the height, but my calculations put it around 36". The seller is local, I have emailed her but not looked at the tank yet. I think it would make an beautiful display tank, but there is a problem. It leaks. I am wondering if it would still be worth a try to reseal, or just a huge headache.
From her emails:
"Was a display tank in a store very unique can't buy them like this. Is not cracked just leaks at the sealant. Otherwise in great condition was only in the store six months."
"Yes it was originally designed to hold water but the design was poor and did not work. they do not make them anymore. yes it is the exact same as the 72 bow only taller. It fits the stand and top."
"Well the glass is thick. the problem is the height. too much weight pushing out on the bowed front. This was resealed by the company marineland and all 8 that they built leaked it is not a sealent issue it is a flawed design."
Has anyone ever seen or had experience with a tank like this before? Is it likely removing all the sealant and replacing it will fix the leak?
Opinions?
Thanks!!!
