So I've been talking with my uncle who had a salt tank for over 10 years and he has convinced me it's best to start fowlr and then if all is well think about going reef. So that's what I'm doing. So now I am looking for 125 fowlr stocking suggestions. I want a humu Picasso trigger, harlequin tusk and a skeletor eel. What else would be good? I'd like to get maybe a sharp nose puffer of some sort and definitely some type of angel. Any ideas? Thnx

Good idea about starting with fowlr, as that is what I did.

What is the footprint of the tank? Gallons is important but certain large bodied fish need good width.

Is the 125 a six foot tank?

If I had a FOWLR 125 with those dimensions I would have a Lunare (Lyretail) Wrasse, Passers Angelfish, Hawaiian Black Triggerfish, and Zebra Moray.

I don't like the mix of the eel with the trigger...there is too much possibility that the trigger will be too nippy.

Yes first salt tank. This one will not be a reef unless I decide one day well down the road to tear it down and start over completely. The footprint is 72"x18"x24". Im going for 10x turnover and around a 40-50 gallon sump.

passers angel if you do an angel, i would also swap the huma for a niger as they tend to be less aggressive/nippy

Okay. What about a blue girdled angel? My uncle said he had a blue girdled in with a saddleback butterfly and his trigger for 5 years with no problems. Any other triggers? I don't like how unicolor the niger is. I might be painting the back of the tank navy blue so a fish like that would disappear unless I get a pre made background.
