125 Gallon Biotope

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Looks great, the real plants definitely make a difference - I'm working on a 210 biotype myself and may borrow some of your ideas! Loving that big piece of driftwood too.

Thanks man! A 210 would look great as a biotope! Lots of room to work. I do really like the way mine has turned out. I took a lot of my ideas from Mr Rain Cloud and GrantA94 so make sure to check out their stuff if you have not already. What do you plan on stocking?

Updates?

Not really, just waiting for fish to grow. Everyone is doing really well. The fastest growers in the tank have been the Tapajos. There is a for sure dominant fish (Among the Red Heads) that I am assuming is a male that kind of runs the show. He is already starting to color up, I can see the orange/red on his head at times and the yellow on his fins as well. Shamrock the Saum continues to be the bossman. He is still colored really great and has a great attitude to match. He has grown a little bit but I was kind of prepared for that since Saums are supposed to be pretty slow growers from what I have read.

I have been on the look out for some Panda Cory Cats but have not found any locally. I have also been considering a Bristlenose Pleco of some kind but I have not pulled the trigger yet.

I have actually been gathering hardware for a new project tank! I don't have it in my possession yet but I should in early September so I will let the cat out of the bag then. One hint is that it is bigger than the 125 haha!

Here is a pic I took a few minutes ago of Shamrock

I am in the same boat as you! Everything is peaceful, everyone is getting along. Just waiting or everyone to grow.

I originally wanted pandas or skunks, but they are really hard to source, for me anyways. So, I happily settled with a bronze :D (or 6).

I have also been gathering hardware for my next project. Here is a clue to mine: Its less than 135g!!

Looking fantastic, poor Shamrock wants a female...

Yeah I could get some Pandas off of Aquabid but I hate paying shipping.

I would bet it has something to do with spawning Stalsbergi!

Don't tempt me haha!

Do you only have one Tapajo in your tank? I was thinking about putting just one tap in my community growout tank and wanted some thoughts on how just one Geo would do. He would be going in with (5) 1" severums.

I have 6 in my tank. I was just taking a picture of the most dominant one. From what I have read Taps are a pretty social fish and prefer to be in groups of six or more. I don't know what advice I could give you on just having one but I think the interaction of having multiple is one of the best parts of owning this fish. Hope that helps!
