your set-up is coming along nice. i was debating whether or not to put in a driftwood i had. i might give it a shot just to see what it looks like.

I love driftwood, I have it in all my tanks. I don't know if the fish can tell the difference, but I notice they seem to love real driftwood and real plants.

Maybe they're just spoiled. :headshake :grinno:

Hey I aclockworkorange I went back to the store and replaced the motor, now its as quiet as a mouse, I love fluval things even my heater is the smart fluval heater.
the filter is as quiet as a mouse now and I love the service from fluval and my lfs, I just gave them a call and they were literally waiting for me with a new fx5 but i Just replaced the motor unit since I had everything set up.

Now the filter is even more quiet than my marineland c-530 which does 530 GPH and is same size.

:) :) I also have an underwater filter which is 150 gph so totals out about 1500 gph up to 1000 gallon tank filter.. um very good
I hope my water is clear soon ;)

but my tank is having a mini cycle.. .25 ammonia now =/ i hope it goes well

hmm sounds good, but i have a marineland c-530 it does 530 gph, do you think its good ?

I have 2 turtles and 9 fish ; 6 tiger barbs 1 barb clown loach with 2 plecos

Should I get an fx5 o.o overkill? i think not turtles are dirty mine are RES.

and also I can put in a under water filter that does 50 gallons of water tanks.. and maybe a H.o.b that does 60 gallons

but hten again I can always buy a rubbermaid and make a ghetto sump

aint got much room since my big c-530 takes up space, I have a commercial stand not like u guys having so much room I have shelves

Thats definitely not overkill, if anything its not enough. Turtles are super messy. Feed them in a rubbermaid bucket and leave them there about 30-40 minutes so they take their dumps in there after. it will keep the tank 10x cleaner.

And you know your fish are going to die right?
I had two 7 inch adolescent RESs and 15-20 barbs, loaches, minnows, etc in a 125 gallon that would pick off a fish every once in a while. I was hoping that once all the fish got to be over 5 inches (most of them were about 2) theyd stop being eaten. My 8 inch common pleco would attach to their shells and stomachs all the time and they wouldnt care.

Then one morning i came and looked in my tank and found this

yeah theres always a chance of them dying, but the barbs are very hard to catch, they gave up :/

they arnt very territorial, I've seen some people with res that have been fine with MINNOWS for 4 years.

yeah they ate 7 feeder minnows, 3 tiger barbs, 3 roseline sharks, 2 guppies (within 5 mins of me putting them in), two clown loaches, and my pleco.
When they were in a 40 gallon tho i put in 5 minnows once, 4 were gone in 24 hours and the 5th was in there for 2 years.

yeah its weird the turtles may eat them or leave them alive for along time
I hope my fish last.. 3 have disappeared so far in 2 months

ive had a friend who has a 125 gall and 2 turtles with like 15 fish, 15 fish were there for 2 years
