I'm planning on buying a 125 gallon tank. I want a (monster fish) but i don't know what the best fish for this size tank would be, because obviously I don't want the tank to be too small for the fish. Any suggestions on what I should get?

I would try a community of medium sized cichlids, either africans or ca/sa that stay under 10" will do great. If you want something solitary, get something that maxes out at around a foot -14" long and you won't have any issues. I suppose you could do one oscar or big flowerhorn too if your filtration and water changes are up to par.

Just remember a standard 125 is only 17.5 wide and you need a few extra inches on each side of the fish so it can swim 'n junk.

I'm strongly considering an oscar or two, but am also considering a flower horn, black nasty, or a fahuka puffer.

If you are planning to buy a new tank then consider to buy 150~180 (60x24x24 or 72x24x24) gallons tank, you will open up more option of species to keep than a 125G, trust me if you into fish keeping then don't settle with a standard 125G and then regret about few days later...yes, few days later not even weeks or months.

Yeah now I am debating on getting a tank anywhere from 150-200 because since I do like monster fish so much, it would give me more of a selection, so yeah I might have to go with the bigger tanks.
