Don't you wonder why your fish seem to have stopped growing? It comes down to water quality. It really doesn't matter what kind, or how many filters you are running, that can never make up for the fact that you only have 100 gals. of water in your tank. Large fish will foul such a small volume of water fairly quickly, less than a day, even though a hobby test kit will show that your water is "perfect". Unless you are doing daily, or every other day water changes, which almost no one does, you don't have optimum water conditions in that small of a tank. It's just simple science. Larger tanks hold larger volumes of water, which dilute pollutants, and keep your water cleaner longer. Many people assume their fish are fine because they are alive and eating, and their cheap $25 test kits tell them their water is fine. In fact, their fish may be under stress that inhibits growth, reduces color, and shortens the fish's lifespan. A lot of people never learn this.

I agree. Tank is grossly overcrowded. So in your opinion, what are the minimum requirements for housing a pbass?

Provided the fish have plenty of room to swim comfortably without stress, it really comes down to how much and how often a person is willing to perform water changes, based on fish load. A 180 or a 300 would be fine for a small group of 3 or four, if the person was willing to keep the water clean. If they only changed water once a week with a heavy fish load, a much larger tank would be required to provide sufficient dilution, as filtration alone cannot replace the makeup of fresh water.

My fish are perfectly fine! Water is always changed every other day or every two days......never had one fish get any kind of sickness. I never wanted my Pbass to be huge anyways. I know people on here are going to bash me on how small my tank is for my Pbass but if there was a problem wouldn't my fish have died or had some kind of sickness. Like I was telling the guy that started this thread there isn't a problem with putting Pbass in a smaller tank as long as your willing to put into the work to keeping the water in good condition. Everyone on here will say get a huge tank for Pbass but it's not "impossible" to keep them in a 125g.

I'm not bashing you, I was trying to help you learn about the hobby. Obviously you have no interest in learning anything. I have been keeping all kinds of fish for over 40 years, have a degree in marine science, and have worked for 2 major public aquariums in my lifetime, and was just trying to pass on helpful information about water quality and why your fish would no longer grow. But, I guess you know more than me, and others who have years of experience. One day hopefully you will learn what you are doing is wrong, without stunting too many more fish. I just hope others will not follow your bad example. Good luck to you. No hard feelings intended. :)

Did I ask what your experience is? It's not rocket science to take care of fish. The guy was simply asking if 125g is okay and all I'm saying it is. Since my fish are living in a 100g tank it's wrong? They get fresh water every other day, they have great filtration, never had a single case of a disease, and they get fed every other day with varieties of different foods I am doing something wrong? Seems like my fish are doing more than fine here! Should I report myself to the authorities for "stunting" my fishes growth?

Hey guys i am not choosing side here .Some people don't have the cash to get a massive tank or are just plain not willing to spend the dough that it takes to have such a tank that does not mean anybody can't have a few of these treasures If you take care of them:DThat said a full grown bass does need a little more elbow room than a 125 for sure.My whole point being if someone only wants a 125 and has no intention of getting larger than when a fish outgrows a tank than they always have the option of selling the fish or just giving it to another member with the facilities to take care of it ...No need to jump all over each other lets all enjoy these beauties:D

HULON That was going to be exactly my other point. Not everyone can afford an amazing aquarium especially with how the economy is. I did not agree that a 125g is and "ideal" situation for Pbass but it can be done. All I wanted to do is give my opinion on what lpenn31 was asking. Bro if you want to put Pbass in 125g go and do it. Either way you will enjoy your fish.

Thanks Hayn......everyone should be able to enjoy their fish and not feel discouraged. Cheeeeeehoooooo
