125g Blue Acara, Threadfin Acara, Geo. Redhead Tapajos - Growth Tracking

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I actually just thinned the stock out again yesterday. The blue acaras have gotten along great with everything. I'm fact the one pair spawns pretty regularly. I've thinned the stick to 7 heckelli, 6 rh taps, and the mated pair of blue acaras.

Those are some pics I took today.

The plants were left alone but the heat of the tank did them poorly. Moved them to my kids cooler tanks where they have thrived.

FInally got a video with a little quite time on T-day. Uploading currently. Really stoked with how the heckelli are growing and forming. The RD Taps... aren't as great as I'd hoped they would be. Sure they're colorful.. but they could care less what is going on in the tank. The heckelli though are constantly checking out whats going on.

Really not appreciating the RH taps as much as I thought I would have. The heckelli have so much more personality.

The Heckelli have so much personality lol because they won't food constantly.:). BTW RH Tapajos look great.

lol it is true the heckelii are complete pigs. Theyre as messy as OScars if you ask me... maybe even more so! lol I appreciate the comments about the RH's but they just really underwhelm me. May be taking them in to a LFS and trade them in for store credit towards some frozen food or some such... still debating on it.

Looking to change out the substrate this week possibly from the PFS to black diamond.. It's like the old 3M colorquartz.. I can get 50lb bags for about 8$ Use it my girls 20 gallons, and it really makes the fish just pop so much more. I'll never do PFS again.. I was really going for the natural biotope look at first, but it isn't for me.

Black Diamond looks OK when clean but it's the dirtiest nastiest substrate I have ever used, not worth the savings for me.
