125g might go salt but have q's on compatability

I really dont like diodontidae...size wise though that should work I would think. Tank will be a little bare though. Might as well add those wrasses you wanted to keep as well.

You could also add some small fish like damsels, chromis, etc. to give the tank more movement as long as you don't have the lionfish grouper.

Agreed. They would also be fast enough to evade the teeth of the puffer as well.

Go with a damsel that would get sizeable though, I like the domino's. Either that or you could get a maroon clown.

Diodontidae seem to be very easily bullied in my experience/eyes. So keep a watchful eye on all other fish when you have a porq.

hmmm. what if i did a dogface and a porqpine puffer with nothing else at all in my 125. i hear unlike puffers can be kept together

Well if you are talking about a golden puffer they are not a dog face but a guineafowl puffer if im not mistaken and can reach 18+ inches and needs a 180g tank by itself as an adult. As such I would highly suggest that if you plan on geting a 300+ dollar golden puffer that you get all baby fish and use the 125 as a grow out. Puffers trash their water quality VERY fast so they need a lot of water to thin it out. Even if you got a regular dogface a 125 is about the bare minimum size so you would have to stock very lightly with him in a 125 as well. IMO it is better to have one awsome prize fish with a hand full of lil guys than a bunch of potentially awsome fish that are sick and diseased because it is impossiable to control the water quality. Just my 2c, good luck!

hmm maybe ill dogface it with a bunch of little guys. tank is cycling as we speak with mollies which ill let stay if they dont get eaten in the long run.

im a little down in funds too so it works out that i wont rush into live stock and it will let things run like they should.

A dog face puffer is a great fish and will do nicely in your 125. GL and fee free to ask any questions here or PM me.

No matter what you do, large SW pred tanks are going to need big, and frequent h2o changes, and a well designed and large sump with macros will go a long way. That being said, good advice LD.

thankyou. im going to do alot more reading and looking into compatible smaller tankmates for him

Check out some of the dwarf angels like the bi color or flame, smaller wrasses, larger clowns like the maroon or tomato, and depending on your rock work you might be able to house a blenny or goby as well once the tank matures a bit. Oh and most of your common soft/leather corals will be left alone as well, or if you are up to planting the tank with some rad maco's always makes for a cool tank.

I do a nice softie pack when it comes time for corals guys. Its also dang near impossible to beat my prices, even with shipping. :D
