Without a basking area, red ears will develop problems in their shells.

looks good man, i had one in my outdoor pond until he ran away

Those heatlamps do not put out enough UVB for turtles so you need to get a seprate UVB lamp. RES doesn't need a lot so the lower power ones work well.
There are some Mercury Vapor lamps that can be used for heat and UVB but they are can be a hassel, although with a larger tank might work well.

Any plans on filtration yet? Turtles are very messy and needs lots of filtration, lots of mechanical and bio.

Also depending on how long you have them and the sex of the turtles you may need to upgrade. Females can get up to 10"-12" and males are around 6"-8" Most say 10 gallons or so per inch of shell. So a full grown female needs about 100 gallons.

I would say african cichlids would be about the only ones that could be fast enough to stay away from turtles, but even then...
African Cichilids? Umm No!

You will have to upgrade in time. since 2 of them are still small might be ok.

That info is as true as they come. the only thing said is that its 5 gallons and inch for additional turtles. and being that you have 3 RES you are looking at if they are all male and the smallest they will grow you will not have to upgrade unless they start fighting with each other. And with keeping fish with them some have had success with bristlenose plecos. I personally have had not had success with any except a convict. But he was so mean that he would chase my turtles around and ram them like he was an SUV and they were a clown car.

But all in all best of luck and will be watching this build.

Nice sub in the car, by the way. Try blugill or a sunfish? Something easy to find, assuming you can collect in your area?

My turtle has eaten eveyrthing that has come into her tank with exception to two giant danios who had a good hiding place. Turtle are very deturminded hunters and when she couldn't catch the bluegill i gave her she got them at night.

I've had limited succes with SAE's they last a few months even a year on one, but as most owners will tell you they all go eventully.

Also on the fighting thing, for sure watch for that especially if you have mixed sexes.
