First can i say i am new to this forum and this is my first attempt at a 'major' project. Though i am a very keen lure angler.
I live in Thailand and have built a new pond some 56000Lt with a separate filtration system consisting of 6 chambers with water flowing up and under between chambers, each 1000Lt chamber is filled with bags of Oyster shells and the pump can recycle the water in around 2 hours.
More importantly what fish would you stock?
You can assume i have access to almost all big fish to choose from, including GATF, TCN, RTC, Arapaima, Alligator Gar, Nile Perch, paddle fish, Chinese Sturgeon, Tarpon, Parayas, goonch, Mahseer and all Pangasius, featherbacks, Snakeheads, Arowana and even Giant Freshwater Stingrays (the real big guys), i have a local source.
Basically i have a blank sheet, though i have about a dozen Giant Siamese Carp in there which i am growing on first as they were cheap and so they don't get eaten later, currently around 6". My concern is what fish do not really go together and what would be happiest.
I have an idea of a few native stingrays (Himantura signifer, Dasyatis laosensis) and a few catfish on the bottom. Some peacock bass, giant featherbacks and Mahseer floating around plus a few oddities. I was thinking one each of Paroon, Florida, GATF, Paraya, Yellow Cheek, Nile Perch, Arapaima, Wallagu.
Its the oddities i have a problem with. Which of those listed would it be best to avoid/leave out? I have concerns with the GATF, Paraya and i might consider leaving out the bigger fish Arapaima, Nile Perch etc.
I would appreciate any help/advise and will post some photos as the project develops.
