I've yet to find one in Kansas, but I've found plains killifish within two miles of the Kansas border while dip netting.
There's fun stuff in some kansascreeks and rivers, the best to dipnet in are probably the neosho and cimmaron, I've seen red shiners in the creek at shawnee, which is little more than a shallow ditch, so find a creek and make a fish trap to find which species live nearby
