wow nice shes beautiful soo guys lol uhh nothing has gona extinct since snakehead arrived i think we should keep em in the us!

There's no giant snakehead populations in United States. Only Northern Snakehead of Potomac River, Bullseye Snakehead of South Florida and Blotched Snakehead of Hawaii. None of them come from aquarium releases.

I have heard/read reports of populations of Giant Snakeheads in the USA. They were from if I recall correctly from one of the eastern heartland states. If I find the article I'm going to post a link.

Here's one article there are others.

Yes there have been several giant SH caught in the US but no known breeding populations have ever been discovered. Most of these catches were made right around the time SHe were made illegal to keep. Havnt heard any in recent years so I would imagine they were all caught or died by this time with next to none being brought into the country other then an occasional smuggled into the country, and im sure if someone goes thru that trouble that they wouldn't just let them go into the wild

Like smallguy said, there are no known breeding populations have ever been discovered. The last live giant snakehead catch was in Rock River of Wisconsin summer 2003, the dead giant snakehead was discovered in Poplar Tree Lake in Tennessee Dec 12, 2006 and the recently washed up dead giant snakehead up on the shores of St. Charles River, Quebec City (Canada where the snakehead is legal) in 2010. It suggests that the giant snakeheads cannot survive the colder temperatures.

ya i used to catch big bass in this lake and then for like 3 months i would catch maybe one or two bass here and there but all small and they would come up with scars and chunks out of them then this big 10 pound snakehead hit a 1 inch swimbait hahaha gave me a run for my money we put him on the scale and he was 10pounds 2 ounces so ya he was a beast with a big belly lol

The larger bass probably moved to another food source as the seasons has changed. I'm not surprised that the big snakehead hit a 1 inch swimbait since the mosquitofish are main prey item for the bullseye snakeheads.
