very nice job on the refinish. I have a 180 with AGA stand and matching canopy sitting in the basement for a month now. I found it on craigslist as well and is in need of a refurb like this. You've motivated me!

It was a lot of fun to take it from what it was to what it is now. I was nervous about painting the back of the tank black at first, but it makes the tank look much cleaner.
I stole someone's idea about using puck lights inside the tank stand to add a little light, awesome idea!
I need to snap some shots of the filtration system once everything is installed and running (I want to add UV sterilizer and I have a HOT Mag that is down for repairs right now.

Yeah, I got it when I use to have my 55gal as a planted setup with firemouths.

nice!! forgive me for being perspective impaired ..... is that a really big 4 ft. tank?

Yeah, it's 48"x24"x32" I believe.

Since the passing of the Flower Horn I've really been struggling trying to figure out exactly what to do with the tank now, but I think plans are coming together.
The Filtration overhaul is finally complete: Marineland Mag 350 Pro, Mag 350 running UV sterilizer, HOT Mag with skimmer intake, and one additional HOT Mag. Also running a Powerhead on the surface for additional agitations, and one in the bottom left corner for deep circulation. On a side note, I never did see any problems when the FH died, and the other 3 fish and snails that lived with him are all doing well.
I'm now thinking of going low tech and semi planted. All of the plants in it so far are fake (except two bulbs that must have been buried in the old gravel i transferred over from the 55gallon. I'm looking into doing a moss wall for the background, and adding a couple more small tough plants (anubias, java fern, other moss).
During the restocking I was set on getting a Severum for the tank, but the more I research the more I don't know. Discus have always been something I really liked, and a 150Tall tank would be perfect for them. I guess we'll see what happens after Christmas.
One thing is for sure, the school of Buenos Aires Tetras really seem to enjoy the tank a lot more than the cramped one they were in at the pet store.
I'll try to get some FTS posted in the next couple of days.
