Might be a stupid question but what kinds of things do you need customized as far as the width goes?

Stands, canopies, glass tops.....

Oh ok...i see what you are saying. I would be getting the stand and the glass tops from the same people that make the tank so i dont think that would be much of a problem. I am still waiting for a call back for the pricing for the 72 x 18 x 28 to compare to the price of the 72 x 20 x 24.

I first was interested in a 110 gallon which they have in the store. When i thought about getting a 120 gallon which was 2 inches taller...they said they would have to special order it and it would cost me $200 more! Guy at the store said that it would cost alot more because i wouldnt be paying for the inches but the template...or something like that.

Its just weird because their 150 gallon is an odd size and im gonna be sick if they are going to charge alot more for the standard 150. I still have alot of time so thats why im doing all of my research now.

What's so difficult about imagining a 135 gallon tank 2" wider? :screwy:

Um..im new here...so is this how people are on this site?

He merely said that it will appear 2" wider than a 135g. Why is that offensive to you?

His first response was "it would look 2 inches wider"...which he then edited as you can see. I was asking for pictures so i could get an idea of what it looked like. Its just that i been doing so much research and at that time i have could not find any 150's with a width of that size. I finally join this forum because it seems like this is where i could talk to the experts and get the most help from and i get an answer like that? Im not trying to be a dick or anything but i came here to get educated...not to imagine things.

I do believe this is one of the top forums and i do appreciate everyone helping me.

get a 180 imo

Haha im starting to consider that too! Went to another shop and they have a listed "180" at 72 x 18 x 30 which according to volumne calculator is a 170. And its actually alot cheaper than the 150 at 72 x 18 x 28. I know a "standard 180 is 72 x 24 x 24/25 and would have to check how much it would cost. Its weird, these guy charge more for standard dimensions that all these unusal dimensions.

how much is it compared to a standard Aqueon 72 x 18 x 29.5?

(the one I have).

you don't want to spend more for someone's 170 when you can get a "150" from Aqueon that is actually a 165 for the same price...

here is a list of their tank dimensions from their website:

This is the quotes i got so far just for the tank:

150 gallon - 72 x 20 x 24 = $329
150 gallon - 72 x 18 x 28 = $520
170 gallon - 72 x 18 x 30 = $379
190 gallon - 72 x 20 x 20 = $554

I just dont get why the 150 with the 28" height is so expensive!

not sure in the case, as it should be about the same price as the 170 they have listed.

normally, 150s are much more expensive than 125's because the glass is thicker all around due to the extra height. For example, 125's in my area are around $300. Aqueon's 150g was $440. $140 more for the extra height..

The 190g has smaller dimensions then the first 150g?
