I'm FINALLY setting up a 150 gallon tank, thanks to a christmas present that'll be enough to finish everything up. Gravel is washed and in place, the tank is full and the heaters are running. As I work on setting up the filter I thought I'd ask for some suggestions of what to put in this tank. This is the largest tank I've had and I want to put a real showpiece monster fish in there. Any ideas on just a single monster fish or a pair of monsters I could put in there?

Congratulations on the big tank, you have TONS of options, it's tough to find a starting place - what kind of fish do you typically prefer? Cichlids? Bichirs? Catfish?

If it were me personally I'd set it up as a monster Bichir tank with lots of driftwood and sand for substrate instead of gravel (easier to clean).

Haha too late on the gravel its already cleaned amnd everything and I'm NOT moving 150 pounds of that stuff again xD
Fish I like.... I love catfish and loaches but I've never really done cichlids or bichers. I want some sort of predator, I was thinking of a shovelnose catfish or a freshwater ray but the ray would be too big for the dimensions and I just want to hear some exotic ideas because I've never really done big fish.

WHat are the dimensions? 72x18x28? 60x24x24? 48x24x30? Or anothe dimension? Knowing that may help determine what type of fish would work better/best.

what would the parameters be for a malawi tank?

They're very hardy fish and can adapt to any reasonable water conditions, but ideally harder water and higher ph, no ammonia or nitrites and the lower the nitrates the better. They are a lot easier on your filtration than many large sa/ca cichlids.

Pbass would last for a little while in there. I'm not a pbass expert, so I can't give you tons of detail on them. Some grow faster and larger than others, but I think the average healthy pbass is somewhere around the 20" range and they are active swimmers.
