its an eheim classic canister filter

My 220 is 30" tall, just like your 150. I have found that the real tall tanks can be create challenges with debris on the bottom.

I know a lot of people are against them, but I have use and have always had luck with undegravel filters with power heads.

What are you going to use for lights?

Could I put loaches in with the malawi cichlids? I saw in the pictures under that post a clown loach in with the cichlids

This one can be a hot button topic. I say that you can, as I have 3 in my 120 Malawi tank. I know others that have done it without issue, but some people are adamantly against it. There are threads about this. Check them out.

lights are just gonna be a regular florescent aquarium bulb that came with the light I got

A 48" inch light fixture I assume. Is it a single or double bulb? With its width and depth, I would advise a double bulb fixture.

Its a single bulb but I've already got it, I suppose I could steal the 2 24" fixtures from my old 55?
My 1 thing about the malawi tank is that it wouldnt be 1 big fish it would be a lot of smaller fish....
What about arowanas, or datnoids, or gars?

I say Dats! you could do a Jardini aro but it needs a home to itself.....I love my Dat silver dollar combo with an interesting cleanup crew! Gars get too long for 48" tank....and quick

I like the datnoid idea, good happy median between the 2 sides that have been suggesting haha
