1500lt plywood tank (ithink)

just researched on here mainly... google etc.. just type plywood tank.. hope that helps.. only stumbled upon it myself after the local tank builder said they wanted £1300.. all glass.. this will stand me at around £300... when complete..

I like that idea with the upright intakes, I had a tall wood tank once and it always had muck on the bottom. I had some nice 7 bar frontosa's in that tank...

sorry forgot to mention... the dimensions of the tank internal excluding filter side, 900mm high 1400mm wide.. 610mm deep.. 19mm glass.. not sure wat is going init yet.. was thinking gourami giant but may out grow... (do i want to do this all again im thinking)lol.

The muck really is only cosmetic, i've found it does'nt really effect water quality unless it is uneaten food. The nitrrogen and other crap is in the water already not really the waste, I find in most of my plant tanks if i do the amount of water changes needed to keep the bottom clean I would hurt the bacterial cycle in the tank and cause more nitrogen than if leave it mucky... also because its hard to get in between the plants with the hose, looks more natural thoe with wood and live plants... I would suggest putting as many rows of 48" plant grow light bulbs as you can fit and heat coils on the bottom because most tanks especially tall tanks will get to cold on the bottom and all your plants will lose the foliage on the bottoms, heat will also bring nutrients to the bottom and the roots... put some nice rocks and drift wood on the bottom and a nice selection of plants and your tank will look sweet... My opinion is every tank should have live plants, even african rift lakes have plants... all aquatic environments have some form of plant life, even ponds and swamps will at least have algea...

wat im looking for is a low maintanace tank.. a crystal clear look, i could over come that by maybe adding pete media so as not to look too fake as you put it...just an idea...

just ordered a 5000lth pump to run things... may be abit much but i can always slow the motor down using a variamble socket. cant really do much now till the pump comes then its on with the plumbing and then finish coat and glass... then leave for a couple of weeks to fully cure....
