So I would say 100-200...hopefully it was kept properly and still young as apparently they could grow to 40 inches!

There are 19 species in the Malapterus genus, most looking quite alike, so I'd recommend not jumping to conclusions as to the ID. Some grow to 3', others to 1' and everything in between.

I have seen several trade-ins in the foot range for $50-$80.

I had one 30 years ago, I remember it shocking me good on several occasions while cleaning the tank. They are Cool but not very active until the lights go out.

PS - guess the filtration can't be " in - line" with other tanks due to shock spread in water ??

The shock is VERY REAL and not something to be taken lightly especially when dealing with one that is larger in size.
