17 inch Jardini

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I had a 9" Gulf Saratoga(Jardini..) in with 2x 18-20" silvers and a 10" black.. In a 250g, he started out fine, but as he acclimated, his timidness wore off, and his real colours shone through. Woke up one morning to find the smaller silver floating on his side, his whole underside torn up, bites to the face & tail it appeared. The other silver only had minor fin tears, and the black was cowering in my small cave of rocks all night.

Your best bet is when 'research has said the Jardini's are pretty brutal' you listen. Most, if not all MFK Arowana entheusiasts will agree that you should keep it with only fish that are substantially larger(which even then didn't work to an extent..) or to keep them alone.

You have small change to keep both Aro together. Jar is much more aggressive fish than Silver or Black. You can try but I give you 10-20% change that this will work.

If there is one awesome fish to keep alone it is a jardini! You might get away with some larger SD or Pacu as mates.....I only kept mine till he carpet surfed at 10". At that size he was stalking my 4" SD's constantly. My Blood Parrot was the only fish he never bothered and it was larger.

Im not going to lie im nervous about it but I want know how big he is until I actualy get him and im hoping he is smaller then advertised!

In any aro com the number I have been told is 6 or more aros and even at 6 it may fail. I tried with my rtg and red aro everything was ok for a week looked lik they were pairing but after a week all he'll broke loose . Also another thing is if it works there will be pecking and the fishes will never look there best 1 or both will have riped fins scraps. Just the heads up gl update when it goes down

you're definitely taking a chance. ask yourself if in case it doesn't work out are you willing to get rid of 1 or the other? if it's something you're willing to do in that case, then buy it and keep a close eye on them. oh yeah and only if you want the jardini bad enough to go through the trouble
