I have not yet done a wood/acrylic tank, but I have 3 sheets each 8 foot long 1 inch thick in the garage just waiting on me to make plans. I will soon be asking myself just how much overlap I will want. I asked the question so we both do it right... I was tossing around 3 inches at the ends & 2 top & bottom.

necrocanis;2124554; said:... Sounds like you have a monster tank vision waiting to happen also. 3 sheets of 8' 1" acrylic. That must have costed more than my entire tank will to build...
cvermeulen;2124824; said:As for the tooling gelcoat, yeah it's not that cheap, but neither is epoxy. I don't know about square footage, but a 5gal bucket goes a long way. It depends how thick you put it on, as well.
Lil_Stinker;2125713; said:I sure do, just need a 'place' to put it...
It actually cost quite a bit less than that... Check out this thread, but don't cry ... http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=163283 Perhaps we can strike a deal![]()
necrocanis;2126005; said:... Depends on what the deal is. I can offer you some customized fish skeletal mounts, artwork, and that's about it lol. I've got only about $20 to spend on this project right now. That's going to a new drill probably as mine is quickly dying. Cheap drills can't handle too many projects....
Lil_Stinker;2126258; said:I have no need for mounts, have a friend that's a 'tax', & I rarely even use him.
I can sit on these for a while, I likely won't start my project till after I move (like 6-10 months out) & I am planning on using only 1 (or 2) & thought of selling the rest to help pay for the other materials.
We can look at shipping costs when you are ready to buy, remember there is always the "Lil_Stinker lease to own plan", with easy financing available... just PM me when you are ready, we will see if I can help you cut cost at that time. For all we know, shipping from NY may be more than getting it retail close to your place.
