I would do all along the cracks for safety, but for safety wait till the engineer guys reply before going ahead, what would I know.
 
borrowed a router, belt sander, ect. Gonna finish up the outside of this thing by next tuesday! Stained and all. I'll be doing my urathane seperate. That will be the weekend after! Hopefully by that weekend I will have the first 5 gal pail of the blue max.
 
I guess I'm not able to explain how SIMPLE, EFFECTIVE and EFFICIENT the heating system I'm using is.

No, it is not seprate from the rest of the plumbing in the house.

It is a closed loop, no fish water in my pipes.

Yes, the water heater does NOT have to work as hard any more since it's heating at MINIMUM 80* water instead of 50* water. Good for heating the tank, go for heating the water I use when I take my monthly shower. Hot water lasts longer now than ever before by adding 100' of pipe to the total volume of the water heater.

I've heard tankless water heaters suck and are not all they're cracked up to be. Better to be used along with a normal water heater instead of on it's own.

Simple facts are these:

You will not find a cheaper more effective more efficient heating system than this to heat large bodies of water or multiple tanks that use one sump.

I'm only wondering if you could increase it's efficiency by having a deadicated heater which is not connected to the rest of the house...

I'm thinking that when you have extended use of the hotwater in the house and your water heater (tank) is cold... should your aquarium start requesting heat and starts the pump it won't only cool down the aquarium further but also take much longer for the Water heater to warm up to temp which will cause a fluctuation in temp in the Aquarium
 
On the contrary, since this heating system has been installed for the tank the only time i run out of hot water is when I'm doing a water change on the 1500. For the other six days of the week it's like a dream come true. you'd have to take a 45 minute shower on full blast to even come close to running out of hot water LOL And I'm such a stickler I put limits on showers (four kids)

Setting up another water heater would be less efficeint in my opinion... Plus a lot more of an up front cost...

I run out of hotwater all the time as it is :irked: 60 Gallon tank but my Wife uses it for the washing machine, dishwasher and we use it for Showers... my wifes baths (80 Gallon Tub upstairs and her magic 120 Gallon tube in the basement):nilly: Cooking, water changes ect... It doesn't last as long as I'd like :irked:

A second tank for me is total cost of $0 to $200 craisglist will usually pull up any number of them at any given time on the cheap and even a brand new 40 Gallon would be cheap as well... cheaper than buying a expensive aquarium heater.

it's more the loss of floor space that :irked: irkes me more... that could have been more tanks :ROFL:
